This is the first post on my new blog. I’m just getting this new blog going, so stay tuned for more. Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates.
I have often wondered why some relationships work while others don’t. Everyone wants to be loved, or as far as I’m concerned, everyone needs to be loved. But love is a tricky word because every person seems to define love in different ways. Such as being in love where your heart skips a beat when you see that person or love as in I love my children, mom, dad, siblings, and pets. From my perspective, love is when you want good things and the best in life to happen to someone you love; you want to help them, give to them, encourage them, and wish them all the success in the world. Mistreating the one(s) we “love” is not love, but a sense of one’s own insecurities. If an individual is constantly demeaning or degrading a person they are supposed to love, they are full of insecurities.
Miriam-Webster (2019) defines love as a noun meaning, ” strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties. attraction based on sexual desire : affection and tenderness felt by lovers. affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests. an assurance of affection.” No where in this definition of love is the word mistreat, degrade, demean, or disrespect.
Let me know what your perspective is on love and how we all should perceive this word that is used so often, either carefully or carelessly. I look forward to your insight on this word. Until then, thanks for reading! V
